So, this is my first attempt at going back to the book after having a very long vacation in San Diego where I drew while sick, then didn’t draw when better.
I put this off for a long time for a variety of reasons, but when I finally got down and started working on it I actually enjoyed it. Sadly, though, I didn’t spend much time at all on it. I was sitting cross-legged on my bed, viewing the chair in front of my closet, and that was SO uncomfortable that when I finished I decided, “yup, I’m finished.”
I’d like to do some more of these for practice (I see a number of locations where my sizing is off, though the angle of the camera is a bit different than the angle where my eyes were, and angles could use some work as well), but before I do that I really need a workspace where I can draw. I am not sure where I might get such a workspace. It’s easy enough to get a chair up here, but I’m not sure if I want to transport a small table, or try to make one of out a random piece of wood and a cardboard box or something.
I think this weekend my projects may consist of cleaning out my room, and then figuring out if I can make a drawing location in my room. Sitting by the window, looking over at the closet doors / my bedroom door seems like a good location. I will have to see which of the chairs I have available is best suited to this task, and then find a surface that is the right height. Since my weekend is pretty empty so far, this should be an easy task to accomplish.
Sizing visually with my pencil (well, stylus) seemed neat, but I was definitely bad at it. I’d like to do more of this and get good at it. I expect to see quite a few more chairs on my ipad before moving on to the next activity in the book.
